Manchester Company Develops App for Chinese Micro-Bloggers

Manchester Science Park based software development company, Ravensoft UK, has signed a deal that will see it develop a new mobile phone application to provide Chinese bloggers with quick and easy access to their blogging accounts.

The success of Tweets60, a free twitter application for Series 60 smartphones developed by Manchester-based Ravensoft UK, convinced David Lui, founder of Taiwanese social networking website Wozai, that Ravensoft were the ideal firm to develop a new application for his website.

Ravensoft will launch the Wozai60 app, providing Wozai users with on the go access to their accounts, later this month alongside a premium version of Ravensoft’s popular Tweets60 application, which achieved over 100,000 downloads worldwide in its first two months on the market.

Andy Nugent, Head of Mobile Business Development commented: “Wozai is a social media service similar to Twitter so we were delighted when, on the back of the success of Tweets60, Wozai approached us to develop a mobile application for their micro-blogging website.

“Tweets60 has been more successful than we had envisaged; it is extremely popular in the OVI store and has even featured in Nokia adverts in the South East Asia and Pacific region.”

The new Wozai60 app will enable Wozai bloggers to update their status, mange followers and read feeds via their mobile phone. A pro version of Wozai60, offering picture uploads, geo-tagging, and searches, is currently under development.

On top of developing Wozai60, Ravensoft are in talks with a number of North West based marketing firms and agencies, to develop bespoke mobile phone marketing applications that will help businesses to communicate with customers.
