Manchester Science Park based multimedia company, SPL Communications has been commissioned to produce a high definition film to commemorate the 125th anniversary of renowned soap and toiletries maker, PZ Cussons.
The commission will see SPL Communications filming in Thailand, Indonesia and Greece as well as at studios in the North West to create a 30-minute film in time for PZ Cussons’ anniversary celebrations this summer.
Brandon Leigh, Group Finance Director at PZ Cussons PLC, explained that the film will be screened at all 125th anniversary events as well as to PZ Cussons’ 10,000 employees worldwide and all of the group’s key external stakeholders.
He said: “We have been working with SPL Communications for around three years, during which time they have produced a number of corporate communications films for us and we have continued to be impressed with the quality of their work.”
SPL Managing Director, Ian Sandall (pictured below), said the anniversary film will use a timeline format to chart the company’s progress from Sierra Leone in the 1870s through to the merger of PZ and Cussons in 1975 to the present group, which has bases in several continents.

“The film will be ready in time for the start of PZ Cussons’ official anniversary celebrations, which coincide with the group’s sponsorship of the Manchester International Festival in July,” he continued.
“It is a challenging project with a large crew and a tight deadline but we are confident our film will tell the PZ Cussons story in an entertaining and informative way as well as provide PZ Cussons with a communications tool they can use long into the future.”
According to Ian, PZ Cussons believe their staff is one of the company’s biggest assets and are committed to ensuring their worldwide workforce of thousands know what is happening in factories and markets in other countries.
“What we see of PZ Cussons in the UK is just a small part of the massive geographical coverage the company has,” said Ian.
“The anniversary film provides an opportunity to showcase what is happening in other areas of the globe, from new laboratories in Salford to factories in Nigeria, as well as show how the company has developed into a huge multinational with a diverse range of products, from milk to electrical goods to soap.
“By investing in the best equipment and talent available, forward thinking companies such as PZ Cussons are using high definition video to get their message across in a powerful, succinct and memorable way,” Ian concluded.
