msp staff take the plunge

Two members of msp’s staff will be throwing caution to the wind to raise money for The Stroke Association on Saturday, July 4th when they take part in the Independence Day Skydive.

Kelly Jones, Commercial Property Executive, and Martin Heaton, IT Manager, will literally being hurling themselves out of a plane at 10,000ft on the day - all in the name of raising funds for a worthy cause.

“Stroke is the third biggest killer in the UK and the leading cause of severe disability,” explained Kelly. “The Stroke Association, which is msp’s chosen charity of the year, funds research into the prevention and treatment of stroke as well as supporting stroke patients and their families.

“Martin and I hope to raise a minimum of £395 each by taking part in the skydive and we are asking everyone to show their support by sponsoring us,” she continued

“I know times are hard with the current recession but everyday problems can fade into the background when someone you care for has a stroke and remember that all donations, no matter how small, will play a role in helping the Stroke Association.”

Anyone who can spare a few pounds can donate via the silver charity box in Cafe on the Park (you can’t miss it!) or sponsor msp’s courageous duo by logging onto the sponsorship page www.justgiving.com/mspskydive.

Good luck with the jump... a couple of us at Duo did a few parachute jumps a couple of years ago and I can tell you it's pretty scary stuff. The only encouraging thing is the planes are usually so rickety that you are please to get out.
