Melbourne to open new data centre

Server hosting provider Melbourne Network Solutions is set to open a new data centre in May that will support 1,000 new clients.

The Manchester Technopark based enterprise will be adding capacity for up to 3,000 servers, more than doubling current numbers - a move the firm saw as essential with capacity almost full at their current 2,000 server data centre.

Melbourne Managing Director Daniel Foster, 27, set-up Melbourne as a sole trader in 2001 while still a first year university student.  Now, with a staff of 10 and growing, this year Melbourne is aiming to double turnover to £2 million.

Daniel (pictured with Sales Director Steven Allan) commented: “The expansion is a real sign of our intent to become a major player in the server hosting sector.

“January and February were our best months to date.  With space running out at our current facilities it was essential to add capacity substantially to allow current clients to continue expanding with us as well as meet demand from new customers.”
