Knowledge City Award Manchester has been named The Most Admired Knowledge City Region at a global awards ceremony in Schenzen, China.
The 2009 Most Admired Knowledge Cities (MAKCi) Awards are a joint initiative by the World Capital Institute and UK research firm Teleos.
The winners, revealed on Friday, November 6th, were selected by an international panel of experts.
Manchester was commended for its ability to continually transform and renew itself in the modern age, building on its position as a city of firsts.
Dr Cathy Garner, CEO of Manchester: Knowledge Capital, commented: “This award is fantastic recognition of Manchester: Knowledge Capital’s achievements over the past five years.
"The Manchester: Knowledge Capital partnership enables the city region to capitalise on its outstanding universities, the creativity of its people and its capacity for world-changing innovation.
