Blood Donation at msp

Stephen Brooks Johnson, one of msp’s security team, regularly organises blood donation sessions at Manchester Science Park, providing everyone on the Park with an opportunity to donate blood to help those in need.

To encourage new donors, Stephen is holding a Blood Awareness Day at Café on the Park from 9.30am to 2pm on Tuesday, June 30th. Potential new donors will have the opportunity to find out more about donating, ask questions as well as sign up to donate blood in the future.

The next blood donation event at Manchester Science Park will take place on Thursday, July 30th. The blood donation unit will be based at Williams House Car Park on the day however, as July is the start of school holidays, Stephen has asked that anyone who can attend email him in advance on stephen.brooks-johnson@mspl.co.uk

Blood donated by volunteers can be used in any number of ways, for example red blood cells are used to treat all kinds of anaemia which can't be medically corrected as well as replacing red cells lost in accidents, surgery or childbirth while platelets from blood are of huge benefit in post transplant and chemotherapy treatments.

For some people, whose illness has no cure, a blood transfusion can also help to improve their quality of life during their final months, weeks or even days.
