Two of Manchester Science Park’s tenant companies have been shortlisted for the prestigious Big Chip Awards, the North West’s annual awards for companies excelling in IT and digital technology.
Technology company AdInsight Ltd, led by entrepreneurs Richard Hamnett and Ross Fobian (pictured), was shortlisted for two awards, Best Newcomer and Best Application of Technology, thanks to its innovative Adinsight advertising tracking system.
Melbourne Network Solutions, which provides mission-critical hosting services, was shortlisted for the Big Green Chip Award for its data centre environmental initiative, which includes switching to low power servers on all dedicated servers, highly efficient cooling systems and cool aisle containment.
The 2009 Big Chip Awards attracted hundreds of entries from companies across the North West region and a total of 58 entries are on the shortlist.
Chairman of Manchester Digital and Big Chip organiser, Shaun Fensom, said: “We were overwhelmed with the number of high quality entries this year and the judges had an incredibly difficult decision cutting these down to create a shortlist.
“The current economic downturn has not deterred the digital sector from highlighting its successes and we think we have some of the best entries since the awards began eleven years ago.”
The winners of the Big Chip Awards will be announced at a glittering awards dinner, hosted by Manchester broadcaster Terry Christian and held on Thursday, June 18th, 2009 at the Palace Hotel, Manchester.
