Arrk Group wins national IT industry award for second time

Following Arrk’s medallist position at the 2008 British Computing Society National IT Awards for innovative secure mobile development work used by the UK Police, the Manchester based IT services company has done it again, this time for its efforts on the online charities portal Virgin Money Giving.

On hearing the news, Arrk’s Founder and Managing Director, Julian Howison said:

“This is a fantastic result for a company of Arrk’s size. To be recognised in 2008 was an outstanding achievement, but to win a medal again at the 2010 awards is amazing when you consider the size of competition we were up against.  The Virgin Money Giving development was a huge undertaking, delivering a 25 man year project in under 9 months to a very tight budget, with the system being needed in time for Virgin Money’s sponsorship of the 2010 London Marathon. Everyone involved with the project worked incredibly hard and under significant time pressure. The medal win is just reward for what we achieved.”

David Clarke, Chief Executive Officer of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, said:

“This has been another exceptional year for the Awards, with winners drawn from a wide range of industries, once again highlighting that IT is truly embedded in our society and brings tremendous benefits to all aspects of life from industry, healthcare through to entertainment and security.

As the Chartered Institute for IT, we offer our congratulations to all those who took part and in particular, the medallists and winners. To qualify as a finalist is terrific; to win is an absolutely fantastic achievement in these highly contested Awards.”

Robin Booth, Publishing Director of Computing comments:

“On behalf of Computing, I would like to congratulate the winners and medallists on their achievements. The UK IT Industry Awards are rigorously judged and as a result truly celebrate innovation and best practice in IT today.”

Ends.

About Virgin Money Giving

Virgin Money Giving is the not-for-profit online fundraising arm of Virgin Money and was established in 2009. Virgin Money uses its infrastructure and expertise as a financial services business to ensure that Virgin Money Giving is efficient, secure and offers a high quality service to all fundraisers, charities and donors.

Virginmoneygiving.com, which is backed by hundreds of major charities, officially opened to all fundraisers for all charity events on 14 October 2009 and estimates it will deliver an extra £5 million on top of every £100 million raised for charities.

Virgin Money Giving charges charities the minimum fees needed to cover the running costs of the site. Any money left over after covering operating costs will go towards reducing fees further or improving services for fundraisers and charities.

Fundraisers can personalise their pages, send out email alerts and manage the different events they might be taking part in. They can include their own content, photos and links to their page as well as customise messages for their supporters. Fundraisers can also link their page to social networking sites.

Virginmoneygiving.com is the official sponsorship website of the Virgin London Marathon, Royal Parks Half Marathon and ‘Run to the Beat’.
