ANS Chairman appointed to Greater Manchester LEP

Chairman and Founder of ANS Group Plc Scott Fletcher has been appointed to the board of the newly formed Greater Manchester Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP). 


The appointment is the latest achievement in a business career that has already seen Scott grow ANS Group from his back bedroom in 1996 to a £40m turnover, Plus listed, IT service provider that employs over 120 people, and win the North West Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2009.

The LEP has been established by the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA) to help drive economic growth and to ensure that the region’s residents will be able to contribute to, and benefit from, business success. The board of the LEP will be made up of a combination of local business leaders and council members, including the leader of Manchester City Council Sir Richard Leese, Peter Marks the Group Chief Executive of the Co-operative group, Neil McArthur the Chairman of Talk Talk.


Scott Fletcher is one of the country's leading entrepreneurs, heading up companies with a total valuation in excess of £30m. Scott founded what is now his largest business, Manchester Evening News Business of the Year, ANS Group, from his back bedroom in 1996 at the young age of 22 and recently led a £4.85m purchase of Alpha Business Computers Limited. Scott is also Chairman and lead investor in Gödel Technologies and Viapost.

Recently, Scott was named Entrepreneur of the Year for the North West at the National Business Awards; he was also named the IOD Young Director of the Year and the PLUS Market's Chairman of the Year. Scott is also an elected board member of community football team FC United of Manchester.
 
Commenting on his appointment to the board of the LEP, Scott said, “This is a fantastic opportunity for Greater Manchester, allowing business leaders and council leaders to work together to drive investment and growth across the region. I look forward to working with all the board members and cannot wait to get started.”
