Business in the Community Enterprise Inquiry, 15 November 2011

Location: UMIC, Core Technology Facility, 46 Grafton Street, MANCHESTER, M13 9NT

When: Tuesday 15 November 2011

Time: 8.30 am

There are 4.7 million enterprises in the UK and 99% of these are Small or Medium Size Enterprises (SMEs) who are looking for support to grow more intensively in their local areas. In recognition of the importance of SMEs to local communities, Santander are involved in a series of partnerships and initiatives at Business in the Community (BITC) aimed at encouraging a sustainable approach to business, nurturing new talent and supporting community enterprise.

From experience we know that large businesses have the capacity to support or sometimes hinder smaller businesses. In Manchester, there are some great examples of where support has worked well – but it is essential for our future economic prosperity that we explore this further and examine what works best and can be easily scaled up.

Chaired by Mike Blackburn, Regional Director at BT - this free Enterprise Inquiry aims to share this best practice as well as identify new opportunities available to large and small businesses.

What will you get out of attending?

  • Hear from a successful small business about how they have beaten the odds to win through
  • Learn more about how companies such as Goldman Sachs are supporting small business in Greater Manchester
  • Understand the barriers which small businesses are facing to working with larger organisations
  • Identify the opportunities available for large businesses to support smaller organisations
  • Share your insights which will be collated for BITC's National Enterprise Checklist
