GMCC is proud to announce the launch of a brand new award to celebrate environmental best practice in the Greater Manchester business community - the Chamber's Greater Manchester Green Business Award. The award will recognise the organisations making the greatest commitment to putting environmental best practice at the heart of their business success.
The Chamber has teamed up with the award-winning ENWORKS environmental support service to launch the prestigious new accolade, which is open to organisations of all sizes and sectors.
The award opened for entries on Wednesday 26 October. Applications are invited from any organisations based in, or operating within Greater Manchester. Entry is free and the deadline for applications is 17:00 on Friday 9 December 2011.
There are two categories available: Small Business (fewer than 250 employees) and Large Business (250 or more employees).
The finalists will be announced by mid-January and our winners will be presented with trophies at the Chamber's Annual Dinner on Thursday 8 March 2012. Their achievements will be widely promoted and the award will serve as an ideal opportunity for gaining a competitive edge.

Free support
Our partners at ENWORKS will be managing delivery of the new award. This independent, not-for-profit support service was recently named NGO of the Year at the BusinessGreen Leaders Awards 2011. ENWORKS also manages the Northwest Business Environment Awards, one of the official, RSA-accredited feeder schemes for the European Business Awards for the Environment.
Chamber members can access free support with boosting profitability by using resources such as energy, water and materials more efficiently, through the ENWORKS programme. Since 2001 ENWORKS has helped businesses to save over £100 million and 485,000 tonnes of CO2e. Advice about accessing this support is available by calling 0845 608 3388 or emailing: lowcarbon@gmchamber.co.uk.
