Skyride Manchester

A Major New Mass Participation Cycling Event

Sunday 2 August 2009

British Cycling, Sky and Manchester City Council are collaborating on a series of free, summer cycling events taking place in and around Manchester over the summer months.  The events will include Skyride Manchester – a mass cycle ride in and around the city centre with entertainment en route and Skyride Local – local Sunday led rides for all the family to enjoy.

Skyride Manchester is part of a series of four Skyrides across the country, which was given a national launch in London on Wednesday 17 June.  Additional, regional media opportunities are planned over the coming weeks to promote the Manchester specific Skyride (other participating cities are Glasgow, London and Leicester). Information about the event was strictly embargoed until post the national launch, as part of the agreement with British Cycling and Sky.

We hope to have your support in making this event a great success and a really enjoyable experience for current, lapsed and new cyclists, families and of course, cycling clubs to enjoy.

If the event is successful, it is hoped that this will be the first in an annual series of Skyrides, building to 2012.  Please do pass this information on to your contacts.

Registration is now open online at www.goskyride.com

We have promotional flyers and A3 posters for the event.  If you would like to receive a quantity of both or either, please contact Ruth McAllister at Manchester City Council Events Unit by email at:
