In the first instance, the training aims to introduce the students to the authentic Yang Style Tai Chi posture series with self-defence applications.
After the first few months, the student should be able to:
* perform the first section of Yang Style Tai Chi posture series
* understand and apply the basic techniques of some postures
* perform simple push-hand exercises
During the training sessions, the students will practice:
* basic drill
* posture series (or form)
* applications
* simple push-hand exercises
Posture series
The Yang Style Tai Chi posture series, or form, comprises of 318 movements that represent defensive and offensive movements against an imaginary opponent. The form is divided into three sections, the first of which consists of 40 movements. As an indication, the student would be expected to know the basics of the first section after 2 to 3 months of training.
