Each year msp staff sponsor a local charity through fundraising events. This year’s charity is Alzheimer’s Society www.alzheimers.org.uk
Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading care and research charity for people with dementia and those who care for them.
There are 800,000 people with dementia in the UK, with numbers set to rise to one million by 2025 and there are estimated to be over 4000 people with dementia in Manchester, according to Alzheimer's Society 2012.
Alzheimer’s Society provides information and support for people with all forms of dementia and those who care for them. It runs quality care services, funds research, advises professionals and campaigns for improved health and social care and greater public understanding and awareness of dementia.
I’m sure everyone would agree that Alzheimer’s Society and the work it does represents a very worthwhile cause so please join in this year’s fundraising and encourage others to do the same. You can find more information about how to get involved on the website: www.alzheimers.org.uk/getinvolved
Find them on Facebook at www.alzheimers.org.uk/facebook
Follow them on Twitter at @alzheimerssoc
The local Manchester office is based on Manchester Science Park in Enterprise House, providing services to people with dementia and their carers. Anyone is welcome to drop in or call on 0161 342 0797 if they would like any help, support or just to find out more!
We will advertise the various events on this page as they happen so please watch this space and help us to raise as much money as we can.
